Definitive Yoga Sutra Chapter 1 – London
January 17 @ 1:30 pm - October 11 @ 4:00 pm GMT£995 – £1350
The “Definitive Yoga Sutra” series are our most comprehensive Yoga Sutra study courses. We explore each sutra in detail, offering word-by-word explanation and key ideas from Vyasa’s traditional commentary. We expand on the meaning of the sutra from the perspective of the teachings of Krishnamacharya and TKV Desikachar, and add Peter Hersnack’s unique interpretations where applicable. We try to embrace both traditional perspectives and practical modern interpretations so that students can appreciate both, understanding how we can apply the Yoga Sutra creatively in our practice and teaching with due regard for the tradition.
This study course will cover all of chapter 1 over 12 days organised as 4 long weekends. Each day will combine theory, practice, discussion and chanting of the Yoga Sutra (focussing on chapter 1). Handouts will be provided for note taking with all relevent sanskrit terms included. The course days will be delivered by either Dave or Ranju, with both present for some of most weekends.
Although all are welcome, priority will be given to those with some prior experience of studying the Yoga Sutra within this approach. For those completely new to the Yoga Sutra we would recommend our other less intense Yoga Sutra study courses.
